Text message terms (SMS program)

Program name: Northwoods Desk lead alerts. Last updated September 9, 2026.

What the messages are

Northwoods Desk answers phone calls for small businesses that have signed up as our clients. After a call, we send the client (the business owner or the person they name as on call) a text message summarizing what the caller needs: the job, how urgent it is, the address, a budget if given, and the caller's number. We may also text a short service notice, such as a missed call with no message, or a note about the account.

These messages go only to business owners and staff who have explicitly opted in to SMS alerts. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages, and we never text the people who call our clients' lines.

How you opt in

SMS alerts are part of the Northwoods Desk answering service. During the same service signup, you agree to receive them either through the SMS consent section of the paper contract or by an explicit verbal agreement on an onboarding call. For the paper route, each business owner or staff recipient enters their own mobile number, checks the optional consent box, and signs and dates the section before SMS alerts are enabled for that number. General service enrollment or providing a number alone is not SMS consent. We retain the signed paper consent records. Download the blank consent addendum (PDF) or view its public image. Each new recipient completes their own consent section; you may contact us to change or remove an alert number. For verbal consent, we explain the service texts, frequency, rates, STOP/HELP instructions, and policy links; confirm the mobile number; ask for an explicit yes or no; and confirm enrollment only after a yes. We retain the recipient's name and number, date, script version, affirmative response, and collector identity. View the onboarding-call consent script. These agreements are collected within normal service signup. This website provides the blank paper document and verbal script for review, not an online SMS signup form.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies with your call volume. Typically you receive one text per call we take for you. Message and data rates may apply.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from that number. You will get one confirmation text and nothing further. SMS consent is optional. Stopping texts does not cancel the phone answering service; other notification channels continue only as agreed in your service setup.
